We have all been hurt before – some of us more than others, and as I spoke to the people who crossed my path I was deeply saddened to discover just how many of us live in constant pain. My innermost heartbeat is to see people overcome their challenges and I find this to be an incredibly fulfilling and rewarding endeavour.
Having studied a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) at The University of Sydney (USYD), and building a successful career as a Microbiologist I completed a Master of Counselling (M.Couns.) at Morling College (Sydney, Australia), majoring in Relationship Counselling and Focussed Individual Counselling for Children, Adolescents and Adults.
As a Registered Clinical Counsellor with PACFA, with over a decade of counselling experience, I do not believe in a “one size fits all” approach, but I engage with various counselling techniques that work best with the struggles you are facing, your personality and what you are most comfortable with.
I relate with everyone in a non-judgemental, kind and respectful way that won’t make you feel uncomfortable, belittled or pressured, all while gently and honestly working with you to manage the reality of the situation you are facing.
Anxiety is one of the most common complaints these days. It affects people of all backgrounds, cultures and beliefs and can come at any age. In fact, data published in March 2023 by the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, identified anxiety disorders as the most common type of disorder, affecting 1 in 6 Australians.
Anxiety is very hard to escape, seemingly impossible to switch off and tends to always get in the way. So we try to avoid situations that we know will make us anxious. Anxiety can often present with a wide range of physical symptoms such as restlessness, uneasiness, cramps, nausea, feeling dread or panic, tingling sensations, and cold or sweaty hands or feet. It can cause chest pain, rapid heart rate and difficulty breathing. All this while our minds are racing with persistent compulsive and obsessive thoughts!
There is a way through anxiety, there are approaches that can calm that worry and ease the fear. There is hope.
Depression colours every area of our lives and its effect on us can significantly impair our capacity to function in our day to day life. It has a way of sapping all of our energy – and that also means that it can make it really hard to find the motivation required to find help.
Symptoms of depression can include a persistent sad or anxious mood, and feelings of hopelessness, guilt, or worthlessness. We may feel restless and irritable and yet have very low energy and feel tired all the time. We may have trouble concentrating, remembering things, or making simple decisions. Depression can cause us to lose interest in activities that we usually enjoyed, and it can change our sleeping and eating patterns. It can also lead to thoughts of suicide and self-harming behaviour.
Suffering from depression can have long lasting effects on our brain chemistry which increases the chances of having subsequent depressive episodes in the future. And the longer these episodes last, the more likely it is for us to suffer yet another episode of increased intensity. Therefore it is vital to seek active treatment as early as possible. It is comforting to know, there are effective ways that mild to moderate depression can be treated without requiring the use of medication.
There is a way to once again find enjoyment in our lives. There are strategies for dealing with depression and alleviating its debilitating effects on our lives.
There is hope.

Relationships capture the deepest beauty and intimacy of our humanity, but… it is also in relationship that we are at our most vulnerable. Regardless of whether the relationship is with a spouse or partner, with family, or with friends, relationship dynamics can get tricky, hurtful and fraught with tension.
Some of the things that can cause tension in our relationships are finances, betrayal, work commitments, an inability to trust, difficulty communicating effectively, power imbalances, differing expectations, children, controlling behaviour, learned behaviours from past relationships, cultural expectations, trouble expressing emotions, and the list goes on and on…
Often it is hard to see a way past the mountain of issues that stand before us, and the hope of things getting better can begin to slip away.
When we are frustrated, hurt and misunderstood, seeking the help of a trained counsellor can help bring clarity and understanding of each person’s feelings, foster effective and respectful modes of communication, and come up with the best strategy moving forward to achieve the goals of all people involved.
There is hope.
Grief has a way of consuming us completely. It takes over everything and moving forward can seem impossible.
We grieve about death, lost relationships, a failed marriage, retirement, a loved pet, health complications, our lives not turning out as we had expected, lost opportunities and past mistakes.
We are here to support you by offering a listening, non-judgemental and compassionate ear. We will walk with you through the cycle of grief, and help you navigate through the fog that lies before you.
There is hope.
